Stories Wanted, Female Writers, Cover Letters & Tidbits

d4-4a-045Hi everyone.  Hope everyone has been keeping tuned to this blog for all the latest news, information and updates regarding the forthcoming Temporal Logbook.  The blog is the best place for the most up-to-date information on the project.  Any news or information that we think is important for you as a contributor to know will be posted on the blog first before our Facebook page, or other sources we’re posting status reports on.  So keep tuned here at all times.  And, the best way to do that is by joining the mailing list that will automatically notify you every time something new is posted on the blog.  All you have to do is input your email address and you’re automatically confirmed.

d9-084We Need More Stories!

We’ve been really thrilled by the response for submissions so far.  While it may be just over 3 weeks till the June 28th Submission Deadline, we encourage you to keep those stories coming in.  We’ve been enjoying reading everyone’s stories but sadly we’ve not had any stories submitted featuring the Fourth (Tom Baker) or Ninth (Christopher Eccelston) Doctors.  Not sure why everyone’s shying away from these particular incarnations, but we especially encourage you to submit stories featuring these particular Doctors.  And while we have received submissions on all the remaining Doctors we’d still like to see further stories submitted featuring Doctors 1, 2, 3, 5, 6 & 8.

Where Are All The Female Fan Writers?

Speaking of story submissions, where are all the female writers?  Of all the stories we’ve received to date, so far only 9.4% have been submitted by female writers. We’d especially like to encourage more of the female fans out there to submit a story to the Temporal Logbook.

d2-2f-003Cover Letters

Just a reminder to not forget to include a personal cover letter as part of your story submission.  Cover letters can be part of the body of your email, or if you’d prefer, they can be included as an attached document in either Word or RTF (Rich Text) to your email.  Don’t forget to tell us a bit about yourself in the letter, as well as including your name, age, address, story word count and which Doctor you’ve used in your story.  We’ve noticed many of you have neglected to tell us which Doctor you’ve used and we aren’t able to tell until we actually read your story.  Including this information in your cover letter just makes it easier for us to know ahead of time.

What’s The Status of My Story?

As you can imagine, we have quite a number of stories to wade through, read, and assess.  We’re going through them as quickly as we can. If you’ve submitted a story and haven’t heard back from us as of yet, not to worry.  We haven’t forgotten about you, or your story submission.  It’s most likely:

  1. we’ve not read your story submission yet;
  2. we’re still in the process of reading your story submission;
  3. we may be in the process of accessing your story against other submissions featuring the same Doctor.

d5-6f-003Going through each story takes time and we’re trying to get through all the submissions as quickly as we can.  Unfortunately there’s only three of us going through all of the submissions.  Each of us still have regular jobs, families, etc to attend to, so what time we do have left each day, we have been trying to read the stories submitted so far.  It takes time, but we’ll get to the end soon.

[Note from Bob:  I can’t confirm how many stories Rob or Jez have read to date, but as for myself, I’ve read about 50% of all stories submitted to date.  I’ve enjoyed each that I’ve read and have been quite impressed with the quality of the stories submitted. As I mentioned previously on the blog, I think we’re going to have a tough time narrowing down the stories for publication as the majority of the submissions have been of a high standard.]

Don’t forget to read the Submission Guidelines before submitting your story.  We’ve put a lot of effort into them to make your job as easy as possible. Read them fully and don’t forget to check out the FAQ on the TLL blog, and you can’t go wrong.

And one last item, if you have any questions regarding submissions, please don’t hesitate to send us an email.  We’ll do our best to answer your questions.

So remember, the submission deadline is June 28th. We look forward to reading your story!
